:
The complete works for cello by the Jewish-German composer Gernsheim. From his first work, “Cello Sonata No. 1,” to “Cello Sonata No. 3,” written two years before his death, almost 50 years passed, covering almost his entire creative career. Although Mendelssohn’s influence is clearly evident in his early works, there are also indications that he gradually acquired his own style. Hulshof, who plays the cello, has a deep understanding of Gernsheim’s works, having premiered Gernsheim’s cello concerto in the past, and his performance of this sonata collection is full of empathy.
