Description
A.S. Fanning releases his fourth solo album. Based in Berlin, the Irish songwriter blends introspective folk with elements of alternative rock, wave, and psychedelic pop. Working with producer Robbie Moore, he recorded the album at the Swedish studio Idea Farm, which Fanning helped build himself. Together with his multinational band – Bernardo Sousa (guitar), Dave Adams (organ, synthesizer, piano), Fred Sunesen (drums), and Felix Buchner (bass) – he developed the songs through open collaboration, with Marta Zapparoli contributing atmospheric sound textures to several tracks. By deconstructing and rebuilding the compositions in the studio, they created a sparse, dense sonic landscape that prioritizes texture and mood over traditional song structures. Lyrically, the album moves between disorientation, societal chaos, and the search for meaning – drawing inspiration from authors such as Ursula K. Le Guin and J.G. Ballard. Caught between resignation and hope, between inner withdrawal and existential longing, Take Me Back To Nowhere becomes a poetic attempt to discern the real within the unreal.
