This is Akiko Suwanai’s third album, released a year and a half after her second album. It couples Brahms with mainly Slavic music such as Dvorak and Janacek. The mellow, well-crafted music with a rich individuality and a polished tone that further brings the listener to the core of the music. The pianist for this concert is Boris Berezovsky, who won the first prize in the piano section of the 1990 Tchaikovsky Competition, the same year as Akiko Suwanai. Their rich personalities collide to form a resilient duo. (C)RS
