This is a live recording of Arthur Blythe, an alto saxophonist who made a name for himself with his dynamic tone, at the venerable Village Vanguard in Manhattan in 1993. The quartet’s power-packed sound is brought to life by the beautiful piano of his close friend John Hicks (p) and the thunderous bass of Cecil McVie. (C)RS
