Description

To never stop improving has been part of the AUDIO PHYSIC philosophy since day one, and the new CLASSIC 25 is a good example for that approach.

Audio Physic incorporated many solutions, materials and technologies originally developed for their Reference Line to create an affordable loudspeaker that comes very close to Audio Physic’s top-of-the-line speakers in terms of acoustic performance.

To mark our 40th company anniversary, we are proud to introduce the Classic 25 – 40th Anniversary Edition, available in a strictly limited run of only 40 pairs.

The Classic 25 – 40th Anniversary Edition combines the timeless design of our Classic speakers with all the advanced technologies from our Reference series, including:

  • Aluminium trusses instead of a base plate

  • Reference Line HHCT III tweeter with a closed tweeter chamber

  • Optimized crossover

  • Vibration Control Terminal with Structure-Borne Sound Damper (VCT)

  • Base tray with ceramic foam

This exclusive edition blends classic aesthetics with cutting-edge performance — a true celebration of 40 years of innovation.

Like its predecessor, the successful CLASSIC 20, the CLASSIC 25 uses Audio Physic’s unique Sandwich Cabinet Construction. This consists of a strong internal core to which back-painted glass panels are glued from the outside with elastic acrylate adhesive stripes. Because of the completely different resonance characteristics of glass and MDF, and the damping properties of the elastic acrylate, vibrations of any kind are very effectively subdued, unwanted cabinet sound is simply not an issue any more.

The adhesive stripes also provide an exactly defined gap between the core and the outside panels, with a sound-insulating effect similar to that of double-glazed windows: There is no transmission of sound from the inside of the cabinet to the outside other than what comes out of the front of the drivers themselves. The overall effect is simple but stunning: What you hear is not the speaker but just pure music.

Another unbeatable advantage of these glass panels is their extremely durable high-gloss surface thats vastly superior to any conventional paint finish. Even after many years they will look as pristine as when they were new, having lost nothing at all of their brilliance and depth.

The CLASSIC 25 inherits another design speciality from the CLASSIC 20 the invisible Subwoofer. This is placed in its own volume inside the internal cabinet, the bass-reflex vent is located at the bottom of the cabinet, opening towards the speakers plinth. A piece of high-tech Ceramic Foam in front of the opening prevents undesirable chuffing noises common to other bass-reflex designs. However, the woofer inside the CLASSIC 25 has grown in size compared to its predecessor: It now measures 8 inches in diameter, providing a significant improvement in low-end performance.

All other drivers represent the current state-of-the-art for Audio Physic’s CLASSIC Line, too. The midrange driver sports the unique AUDIO PHYSIC Dual Basket Design, a woven glass-fibre diaphragm and a Phase Plug mounted directly onto the magnet motor to help with heat management inside the driver. The attention to detail that went into this driver is especially important as the human ear is very susceptible in the frequency range covered by it because this is where most of the human voice happens. The clarity and naturalness of this drive units sound are unrivalled in this price range.

The magnetic motor of the CLASSIC 25s tweeter is elaborately ventilated as well, so that the soft dome made by a German specialist company always finds ideal operating conditions even under heavy load. Thanks to the powerful motor and the low self-resonance, the tweeter achieves exemplary signal integrity far beyond the audible range. A small horn-shaped sound guide surrounds the actual dome and ensures a seamless transition between mid and high frequencies. So even outside of the so-called sweet spot you will be able to enjoy a relaxed musical experience.

All in all out new CLASSIC 25 is a significant improvement from the already very good CLASSIC 20. Its so good, in fact, that in terms of acoustic performance it comes very close to some of Audio Physic’s REFERENCE Line speakers like the AVANTI. Within its actual price range, the CLASSIC 25 is without doubt a class of its own.

Features

Sandwich Cabinet Construction
Audio Physic’s unique Sandwich Cabinets are an innovative way to stop the speaker cabinet from developing an acoustical life of its own. It is especially effective with Audio Physic’s stylish glass-finished speakers as the relatively high weight of the glass panels helps dampening the cabinet even better.

Dual Basket Design
AUDIO PHYSICS unique DUAL BASKET DESIGN is a true break-through innovation and the most important part of the HHCM-III technology. Instead of the tradition single basket, Audio Physic’s HHCM-III features two separate baskets to prevent and subdue unwanted vibrations already at the source.

Invisible Subwoofer
Some of Audio Physic’s speakers feature an internal woofer inside the cabinet provides the same deep bass and punch as an additional subwoofer without anyone ever having to see it.

Ceramic Foam Bracing
Ceramic Foam is a high-tech material used for internal bracing in many of Audio Physic’s speakers. It is much stiffer than MDF although it consists of 85% air. This means, the room taken up by the internal bracing is also part of the effective volume of air the drivers need to work. By using Ceramic Foam, Audio Physic can build loudspeakers that match and out-perform much bulkier speakers.

VCF Vibration Control Feet optional
The best feet for Audio Physic’s and other speakers. VCF provide a substantial improvement of sound performance by reducing transfer of unwanted vibrations while at the same time protecting delicate surfaces. Also available as VCF Component for Hi-Fi separates and as VCF Cable Supports.

3-Way Design
The 3-way speaker features three different drivers that share reproduction of the entire frequency range. One or more woofers, a midrange driver and a tweeter. Usually the crossover frequency between low and mid frequencies is set between 150Hz and 300Hz, and between 2,000Hz and 3,000Hz for the transition from the midrange to the tweeter.
