Born in Prague, Czech Republic, Weinberger studied at the Prague Conservatory and then at the age of 20 at the Leipzig Conservatory. Weinberger (also known as Weinberger) studied composition with Max Reger. He was exiled to the U.S. by the Nazis, but he never achieved success and took his own life in his final days. He left more than 100 works, including his masterpiece “Schwanda the Bachpipe Player” and “Variations and Fugue on ‘Under the Big Chestnut Tree,'” but his opera “Wallenstei” was forgotten after its premiere in 1938. Based on Schiller’s play based on the real-life Wallenstein, who was active during the 30 Years War, the opera features a variety of musical styles backed by a large orchestra that includes a military band and harpsichord. The secret piece by the spirited conductor Cornelius Meister is back.
