[Encore Press: Mercury Living Presents 50] This disc includes Grainger’s “Lincolnshire Bouquet,” based on a folk song from the Lincolnshire region, and four other wind ensembles. After studying at the Eastman School of Music and other schools, conductor Frederick Fennell began his career as a conductor, and in 1952 he founded the Eastman Wind Ensemble, making a great contribution to the popularization of wind ensemble music and setting a new tradition in wind instruments. His passion for wind instruments can be felt in the performance heard here. Rubidium clock cutting. [Performed by] Carol Dawn Moyer, mezzo-soprano (*), Eastman Wind Ensemble, conducted by Frederick Fennell
