Having the ability of power sourcing and delivering power at the same time is a very unique feature that enables a vast freedom to your network. You can daisy-chain multiple devices with just one point of power delivery.
In some situations, you want to connect your own clean, linear power supply to reduce ripple and noise of the power source in your network. Using the DC connector on the backside, you are now able to use Power-over-Ethernet in the most sensible environments.
