Ruf Records announces My Voice, the long-awaited debut solo album from acclaimed American blues, soul, and R&B guitarist, songwriter, and producer Laura Chavez, due January 2026. Entirely instrumental, the album reflects Chavez’s belief that the guitar is her true voice. Renowned for her fiery technique, emotional depth, and unmistakable tone, Chavez has shaped modern blues through collaborations with artists such as Deborah Coleman, Nikki Hill, Vanessa Collier, and many others. Her achievements include multiple Blues Music Award nominations and a historic win for Instrumentalist – Guitar in 2023, making her the first woman to receive the honor.

My Voice blends originals with reimagined classics, drawing on Texas and Chicago blues while embracing rock, soul, and roots influences. Highlights include a driving take on “Born On The Bayou,” dedicated to her father; “So Long Baby, Goodbye,” a tribute to California’s roots-rock heritage; and “El Cascabel,” honoring her Mexican heritage with mariachi-inspired blues-rock. Instrumental soul shines on “Chinese Checkers,” while the haunting slow blues “La Llorona,” inspired by Mexican folklore, provides an emotional centerpiece.
