Eugene Zador was born in Bartaszek, Hungary, and contributed significantly to the development of film music in 1940s America. In the last two decades of his career, he created a series of works that combined romanticism, classicism, and all of his Hungarian roots. Zador’s talent for writing “Hungarian-style melodies” without directly quoting melodies is demonstrated without regret in “Rhapsody for Orchestra” and “Rhapsody for Zymbalon and Orchestra. Another characteristic of Zador’s music is its lyrical atmosphere, such as the calmness of “Hungarian Plain,” which is mainly a discreet dialogue between strings and woodwinds, and “Hungarian Fantasy,” which begins with an impressive horn solo.Naxos Japan
