The latest album by Japan’s leading pianist, Michie Koyama. This is the second album following her first sonata album “Hammerklavier” (SICC-19050), which was released last year in the year commemorating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. The last three sonatas recorded here are known as the “Late Three Sonatas” among the 32 piano sonatas written by Beethoven (1770-1827), and are known as the most difficult works that reached the highest artistic heights. >Koyama is currently developing a nationwide (Sapporo, Sendai, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka) concert series “Beethoven, and…” centered on his late masterpiece “Beethoven Sonatas No. 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32”. This February 2021 recording captures Koyama’s ever-deepening pianism as he breaks new ground with Beethoven, who always moved forward in his search for new possibilities.
