Chelsea Wolfe, one of America’s leading female singer-songwriters whose latest album, 2019’s Birth of Violence, has been hailed as her best work to date, has formed a band under a different name to release her debut album. In her solo career and in her eponymous leader band, she has delivered dark, powerful, and beautiful songs in a variety of arrangements, from a single acoustic guitar performance to the extreme use of electronics. On the other hand, Mississippi’s Piece is a straightforward expression of her post-punk/new wave influences, which are one of her roots. The album also includes a song reminiscent of Rudimental Peni, whom she has long professed to be a great inspiration. The album will be released in Japan ahead of the rest of the world.
