East Wind, Japan’s world-class jazz label, started in 1975.” To celebrate the label’s 40th anniversary, the entire catalog is being reissued in a limited edition for 1000 yen (excluding tax). This is the first release in 13 years for the series. The last recording by the brilliant Oliver Nelson, known for his immortal masterpiece “The Truth About the Blues” (Impulse!). Recorded in Los Angeles on March 6, 1975, with a nine-piece band including Jerome Richardson and Shelley Mann, the band reprises the title number and popular song “Janine,” which opens the aforementioned album.
