A new series by Laurie Block, a leading female folk blues performer! Following the “Mentor” series of tributes to great guitarists such as Sun House and Skip James over the past 10 years, the “Power Women of the Blues” series will now begin! As the name suggests, the series will now pay tribute to female blues singers who have influenced her. The first is Bessie Smith. She rearranges the original band sound and brings many of the classic songs back to life with her solo acoustic guitar playing!
