This is the third album in the “JAZZ COLLECTION 1000” series. This is the first album released after transferring to CBS Sony (at that time), and it captures Sadao Watanabe’s new frontier. Featuring such up-and-coming musicians as Yoshiaki Masuo and Yoshio Suzuki as backing members, Sadao Watanabe makes full use of alto saxophone, flute, and sopranino to create an open and airy sound that seems to expand the boundaries of jazz. The album includes the folk-rock style “Pastoral,” the beautiful “Gary, Otro Samba,” and others. (C)RS
