This is a new album by Takuya Kuroda, an up-and-coming Japanese trumpeter based in New York, who is also a member of Jose James’ band, and has been signed to the prestigious Blue Note label. The fact that a Japanese trumpeter has signed a contract with Blue Note in the U.S. is also a big topic of conversation! This is a jazz-based album that crosses over to hip-hop, afrobeat, gospel, funk, Latin, and soul, and was produced entirely by his close friend Jose James. Jose James also contributes vocals on Roy Ayers’ “Everybody Loves the Sunshine. Lionel Ruecke also contributes a guitar solo.
