The Tokyo Metropolitan Trombone Quartet, led by Hiroyuki Odagiri, principal trombonist of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, presents a new album! The album opens with a trombone quartet by Frackenpohl, who has left many excellent works for brass instruments. Arranged by the highly acclaimed arranger Kiri Oda, the album continues with gems by Charles Henri, J.S. Bach, and Bartók. The four musicians, who have worked together in the brass section of some of Japan’s finest orchestras, performed with a breathtakingly harmonious blend of technique, sparkling sense, and intelligence. The program closes with three pieces that can be considered a tribute to Kyu Sakamoto, who was a popular national singer and passed away at a young age.
